An open mood is a wide outlook on a
problem and exploring many possible solutions to that problem. It is a way of
thinking that maximizes your creative solutions to solutions allowing you to
ponder up the best one. Anytime you take your thinking outside of the box,
imagining new ideas you wouldn’t normally think of you have an open thought
process. Too often we focus strictly on the obvious solution to a problem and
don’t explore a wider variety of options. Once you come up with your solution
however you switched to a closed mind and zoom in on that one particular
solution. The open mode is a more
playful way of thinking in which were not under pressure to get things done.
It’s a less serious and more humorous.
I have been in the open mood many
times throughout my life. For example, when I was younger my parents told me I
couldn’t get a tree house because they couldn’t afford it and there was no
place to put it. So instead of just taking that no I decided to come up with a
way to fix that problem. Since we had no trees, I decided to build my own tree
house in the attic of our house. I creativity thought of a way to get a tree
house even though we had no trees by thinking outside my normal parameters.
I think you can get yourself into the open
mode at will depending on who you are. People choose how they will think
there’s no set period of time in which people are able to do so in an open
manner. Just like other skills like drawing which some people it comes easily
others it doesn’t. It’s easier to think openly than others, it’s a natural
process for some and a chore for others. But with practice it gets easier for
people to think openly, it’s a skill that can be mastered by everyone over
time.
